Garden cardigan "Cajsa"

I have long dreamed of my own garden cardigan and now it finally exists! The cardigan  would actually be called Aggi's garden cardigan but when I was planning my own little Cajsa Warg spice garden, it struck me that the cardigan should of course have its  name after her. Cajsa Warg lived and worked during the 18th century. She was a housekeeper and author of the cookbook Hjälpreda i hushållningen för unga fruntimmer , which became one of the most influential cookbooks from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century. Already in the first edition of her cookbook, she introduces plant dyeing, which was later expanded in the coming editions.

The lower part of the cardigan is plain knitted and slightly flared. The elastic is  discreet.  On the upper part I have chosen to have a knitted lace pattern that represents leaves. Lace feels a bit 18th century so it fits perfectly with the name choice :)

I wanted the sleeves to be adapted to chores in the garden, so I chose a fairly long elastic that fits. Then it is easy to wear a wrist warmer if it is a little chilly.

The yarn is 100% sheep wool from Sweden. It is a thin and fine yarn that creates a light cardigan.  The buttons are made of wood.

If you are curious and want to feel the yarn, you can order a sample patch.
